A pair of hand-woven Hopi storage baskets originating from Third Mesa, Arizona. These items are crafted using a traditional coiled construction technique, featuring yucca splint wrapping over a thick bundle core of galleta grass or yucca fibre. The set includes one taller cylindrical basket with a tiered, domed lid and a second shallower, broader basket with a flat-fitting lid. The designs incorporate concentric bands and geometric star or butterfly motifs in shades of violet, moss green, and golden yellow. Produced circa 1940s–1960s, these baskets represent mid-century Hopi craftsmanship intended for both domestic use and the trading post market. The specific weaving style and dye palette serve as diagnostic indicators of their provenance. Dimensions: Basket A: 18cm x 19cm; Basket B: 11cm x 22cm.
