A mid-20th century hand-carved English oak fruit bowl from the workshop of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson of Kilburn. The circular dish is characteristic of the Arts and Crafts tradition, featuring a hand-adzed surface that creates a tactile, undulating texture to both the interior and exterior. The oak has been treated with a dark-stained finish, which serves to highlight the prominent grain and the distinctive silvery medullary rays of the timber. Centred within the interior of the bowl is the signature high-relief carved mouse, depicted with upright ears and a long, slender tail carved directly into the wood.
