Buyer's Premium:

A fine George V sterling silver capstan-style inkwell by the renowned silversmiths Walker & Hall, hallmarked Sheffield 1912. This piece features a distinctive Art Deco-inspired hexagonal motif, representing a transition between traditional Victorian deskware and the geometric styles of the early 20th century. The large, weighted hexagonal base tapers upwards to a matching hinged lid. The lid opens on a sturdy hinge to reveal a recessed well containing its original, removable clear glass ink liner. The item is clearly hallmarked on both the lid and the base with the maker’s mark W&H, the Sheffield crown, the lion passant for .925 sterling silver, and the date letter u.
