A Mason’s ironstone ginger jar and matching domed cover manufactured by Ashworth Bros, England. The piece is decorated in the Chinoiserie style with the Peony pattern on a cream ground. The polychrome decoration is executed via transfer-printed outlines with hand-painted enamel highlights, depicting large purple and yellow peonies, a central footed vase with smaller blossoms, birds, and butterflies. The base is marked with the black printed stamp MASON’S CHINESE PEONY ASHWORTH BROS ENGLAND, the registered design number 669104, and the hand-painted pattern number C4874 / 5.
