A Japanese export porcelain tea set dating from the Taisho to early Showa period, circa 1915–1935. The set comprises a teapot, six teacups, and a small saucer, presented in a fitted, silk-lined wooden box. The pieces feature a matte chocolate brown ground decorated with hand-painted Rakan motifs depicting various Buddhist immortals. The decoration employs the moriage technique with thick, raised enamels in cobalt blue, ochre, and green. The set is finished with heavy gilding and gilded scrollwork, with cup handles rendered in a coral-red glaze. A red square character mark is present on the underside of the teapot and cups.
