This Ukrainian commemorative medal was issued to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Vnutrishni Viyska MVS). Formally established in early 1992 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Internal Troops served as the direct institutional successor to the Soviet-era MVD units. This award dates to the decennial anniversary in 2002. The obverse features a silver-toned equilateral cross with deep maroon cold enamel inserts. Centrally superimposed is a circular wreath of oak and laurel leaves surrounding a white enamel disc with a large silver Roman numeral X. The relief depicts traditional military figures and a medieval-style Slavic helmet. Enamel banners bear the Ukrainian Cyrillic inscription: ВНУТРІШНІ ВІЙСЬКА МВС УКРАЇНИ (Internal Troops MVS Ukraine) and 10 РОКІВ (10 Years). The medal is suspended from a rectangular metal mount with a ribbon featuring a symmetrical colour pattern of blue, white, and red. This piece represents the transitional period of Ukrainian military heraldry, combining Soviet-style construction with traditional national motifs.
