A comprehensive collection of twenty items of British military insignia, primarily cap badges, dating from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II as indicated by the St. Edward’s Crown. The assembly includes a diverse range of administrative branches and service corps, featuring the Royal Corps of Transport (RCT), Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), Royal Army Pay Corps (RAPC), Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), Royal Army Educational Corps (RAEC), Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC), Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC), and the Intelligence Corps. Infantry and Cavalry units are well-represented by The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (West Riding), Royal Hampshire Regiment, The Light Infantry, Royal Irish Rangers, and a modern anodised example for The Queen’s Royal Hussars. Specialist items include a blackened Prince of Wales’s Division badge and a Victoria College (Jersey) Combined Cadet Force (CCF) badge. Of particular interest to collectors are the three Royal Army Chaplains’ Department pieces, comprising a gilt Christian cross, a small lapel cross, and the scarcer blackened/bronzed Jewish Star of David variant. The collection illustrates the mid-to-late 20th-century transition in manufacturing from traditional bi-metal (brass and white metal) to silvered/chrome and modern anodised Staybrite finishes.
