An Amphora Art Deco ceramic vase, circa 1920, featuring a highly stylized vulture motif. The vase presents a bulbous body, a tapering neck with a flared rim, and a small foot. Its design incorporates both matte and glossy glazes across a palette of greens, blues, browns, oranges, yellows, red, and black. The upper shoulder and lower body have a matte green finish, contrasting with the glossy, raised decorations. The neck is adorned with a dark blue glazed rim and a geometric pattern of vertical bands alternating with quatrefoil motifs in dark blue and orange. The central body prominently displays a highly stylized, raised depiction of a vulture with a red head, yellow beak, and multi-colored plumage. Below this, the design transitions to raised teal green elongated ovals resembling berries or leaves, intertwined with swirling brown branches set against a speckled white background, framed by a patterned band above the dark blue foot. The decorative style is reminiscent of Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts aesthetics. The underside reveals impressed markings, including “AMPHORA” along with a crown symbol, a blue stamped “14” next to an additional symbol, and a faint impressed “L”.
