A Great Western Railway Hand-Painted Cast Metal Armorial Sign Plaque. This round, cast metal plaque features a prominent heraldic crest at its center. The outer edge bears the relief text “WESTERN RAILWAY COMPANY GREAT” (referring to the Great Western Railway Company), painted in gold and black on a red and white band. The central crest includes a quartered shield with a St. George’s Cross on a white field, a black shape on a red field, and an animal on a green field with a blue and white wavy pattern, all surrounded by decorative scrolls. The palette used for the crest and scrolls includes red, white, black, gold, green, and blue. The reverse side is painted grey and includes a keyhole hanging bracket.
