A cased Victorian silver plate and mother of pearl fish set, retailed by Gowland, Sunderland. Presented in a rectangular wooden canteen, likely oak, with a distressed decorative metal plaque on its lid. The interior is lined with dark red velvet and houses two fitted trays containing a set of 16 fish knives and 16 fish forks. The cutlery features silver-toned ferrules. The blades and tines are adorned with intricate scrollwork. A padded label inside the lid is embossed with “GOWLAND. JEWELLER & SILVERSMITH SUNDERLAND.”
Condition report:
The wooden canteen exhibits visible surface wear, scratches, and a distressed decorative metal plaque on its lid. The cutlery shows signs of tarnishing and consistent use.
