A Maling ceramic model of ‘The Old Castle’, Newcastle upon Tyne, commemorating the North East Coast Exhibition of May 1929. This architectural model, possibly functioning as a decorative container or spill vase, is crafted in a rustic style with a textured, speckled grayish-greenish brown glaze designed to simulate stone. It features crenellated battlements, multiple towers, and various openings. The base is clearly marked in English: “MODEL OF THE ‘OLD CASTLE’ BUILT-1080 – FROM WHICH THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE ON TYNE DERIVES ITS NAME REBUILT-1170 LAST SIEGE-1664 NORTH EAST COAST EXHIBITION MAY 1929 MALING ESTº [castle logo] 176?
