A two-tone stoneware flagon by Fentiman’s, featuring a cylindrical body with a handle, a rounded shoulder, and a narrow neck fitted with its original ridged ceramic stopper. The lower body is finished in a matte beige, while the upper shoulder, neck, and handle are covered in a glossy dark brown glaze. The brown shoulder is prominently inscribed with “TO BUY, TO SELL OR MAKE USE OF THIS BOTTLE IS ILLEGAL PLEASE RETURN WHEN EMPTY 1958”. The beige body bears a circular stamp depicting a dog’s head in profile, encircled by “FENTIMAN’S LTD. CO. DIRECT SUPPLY”. Below this, further instructions read “THE CONTENT OF THIS BOTTLE IS A BREWED BOTANIC BEVERAGE CONTAINING YEAST” and “KEEP THE STOPPER TIGHT, STORE IN A COOL PLACE POUR OUT GENTLY AND DO NOT SHAKE”. The ceramic stopper is marked “FENTIMAN’S GINGER BEER”.
