A 19th Century brass and glass Brest pump set, presented in a dark polished wooden box, likely mahogany, with brass hinges and a keyhole escutcheon. The hinged lid opens to a fitted, dark fabric-lined interior, likely velvet or felt. The set comprises two instruments: a cylindrical brass pump or syringe with a plunger-style top, and a clear glass spherical vessel with a flat base. The glass vessel is fitted with brass components at its top, including a threaded knob and a visible internal metal rod, designed for vacuum application. These components exhibit an aged brass patina.
