A late 19th / early 20th-century edition of ‘The Illustrated National Family Bible’ with the Commentaries of Scott & Henry, edited by Rev. John Eadie, D.D., LL.D., and published by Cassell and Company, Limited, London, New York, Toronto & Melbourne. This large, heavily bound volume features a dark, likely leather cover with substantial gilt-embossed decoration on the front, reading “HOLY BIBLE ILLUSTRATIONS REFERENCES MAPS” within an ornate cartouche. The book is further embellished with decorative brass or gilt-metal corner protectors and two functional clasps on the fore-edge, one with an attached white string. The internal pages include “Critical & Explanatory Notes” and feature numerous color and monochromatic illustrations.
