A watercolor painting on paper by Victor Noble Rainbird (British, 1889-1936), titled “Fisherfolk by a beached coble” and dated 1915. The artwork depicts a tranquil coastal or riverine landscape with figures tending to small boats on a sandy shore under a hazy sky. Rendered in a subdued palette with soft washes characteristic of academic realism, the piece is signed “Victor Noble Rainbird 1915” in the lower right. It is presented under glass within a multi-layered cream mat and a traditional gold-toned wooden frame. A backing label from Dean Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, identifies the artist and title, noting its inclusion in their Spring Exhibition 1992 as Exhibit 42.
