Auction 8th December - Antiques, Jewellery, Militaria, Coins, Vinyl, Toys, Ceramics, Collectables & More
A substantial figural wood carving, crafted from dense boxwood with a rich reddish-brown patina, depicting an elderly East Asian-style male figure identified as Shou Xing, the God of Longevity. The main figure features a long beard and smiling expression, with inset teeth of ivory or bone. He holds a staff adorned with carved fish, and a larger fish is carved on his head. Two younger attendants interact with the main figure; one holds a fish, and the other carries a basket. The entire group stands upon an elaborately carved naturalistic base. The piece displays an aged finish consistent with its likely late 19th or early 20th-century origins.
