A WW1 British Army Officer’s Military Pocket Compass, featuring a hinged silver-toned metal case with a white dial displaying cardinal directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) and a 0-360 degree scale. It is fitted with a blued steel needle and a brass pivot. The interior of the compass lid is stamped with ‘97824’ and ‘W’.
Accompanied by a sterling silver hunter-style pocket watch. The watch features a white enamel or silvered dial with black Roman numerals, blued steel hands, and a subsidiary seconds dial marked 10-60. The dial is signed ‘MORTONS LONDON’ and ‘SWISS MADE’. The reverse of its hunter-style case exhibits a guilloche pattern with an un-engraved central cartouche. Inside the case back and on the pendant, hallmarks indicating sterling silver (lion rampant), Birmingham assay office (anchor), and a date letter ‘A’ are present, along with the serial number ‘503812’ and initials ‘AHD’.
