A vintage utilitarian wooden chest or trunk, likely constructed from pine or a similar softwood, featuring visible dovetail joinery at the corners. The exterior is dark stained or painted. The hardware, including a rusted front swivel clasp, side carry handles, and internal lid hinges, appears to be made of forged iron or steel. White painted markings on the lid include “MRS. D.A. OLDHAM”, “35. M. HE [partial address]”, “YORKSHIRE”, “ENG. AND.”, and “NO S”. A separate, riveted-on metal-framed label on the lid’s center front further identifies “W.B. OLDHAM”, “HENRY WAUGH (S) LTD.”, and “SINGAPORE”. Internally, the chest reveals lighter wood and contains two removable, divided wooden trays or totes.
