A First World War (WW1) Medal Trio comprising a silver-toned British War Medal and a bronze Victory Medal, both named on the edge to “11023 SJT. T. H. HICKS. YORK. R.”, and a bronze 1914-15 Star, named on the reverse to “11023 PTE. T. H. HICKS. YORK. R.” The British War Medal obverse depicts King George V with the inscription “GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP:”, while its reverse features St. George on horseback. The Victory Medal reverse reads “THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919”. The collection also includes three associated medal ribbons (for the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, and Victory Medal), with one mounted on a bar. Accompanying the medals is a circular darkened metal lapel badge inscribed “FOR KING AND EMPIRE. SERVICES RENDERED.” surrounding a crowned “GR” (George Rex) cypher, with the number “473290” on the reverse.
