A group of four hand-carved soapstone sculptures, depicting stylized human forms. Comprising two pieces carved from a dark, polished soapstone and two from a lighter, matte, cream-colored soapstone. Each sculpture presents a figure in a seated or contemplative pose, with some featuring openwork elements and smooth, minimalist contours. The themes often associated with such carvings include family bonds and introspective thought, reminiscent of ‘The Thinker’ motif. Their aesthetic suggests a modern or contemporary origin, consistent with African craft traditions. The bases of the dark figures show unpolished, rougher stone textures. One lighter figure has a faint rectangular impression on its base, possibly from a removed label.
