Modern Replica, 20th/21st Century. A collection of twelve fired clay figures modeled after the famous Terracotta Army of the Qin Dynasty. The group comprises two large figures (one standing officer and one kneeling archer), eight smaller standing and kneeling soldiers, and two small horses. The figures are executed in dark gray or black fired clay, designed to simulate the appearance of aged terracotta. Details of the armor, facial features, and accoutrements are molded. The collection is unsigned and bears no maker’s marks or seals.
