A pair of vintage Smiths English miniature lantern clocks constructed of brass or brass-plated metal. The clocks are stylized as traditional English lantern clocks, featuring rectangular bodies supported by four turned feet. They incorporate decorative openwork side frames with serpentine motifs and dome tops capped with finials. Both clocks feature circular dials with etched scrolled centers and black Roman numeral hour markers (I-XII). Visible manufacturer markings on the dials and rear plates confirm the clocks are by “SMITHS, ” bearing the text “MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN” or “MADE IN GT BRITAIN” and referencing “SMITHS CLOCKS & WATCHES LTD” or “SMITHS ENGLISH CLOCKS.” The original mechanical movements have been replaced with modern battery-operated quartz conversions, visible through the rear plate openings.
