A collection of six novelty ceramic teapots and matching lids produced by James Sadler & Sons Ltd., Staffordshire, England. The collection comprises two distinct series, each represented by three teapots. The first series features three squat, square-bodied teapots from the William Shakespeare series, including “Hamlet, ” “Romeo and Juliet, ” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” These are marked with model numbers 4443, 4445, and 4444, and Reg. Design No 2010603. The second series features three rounded teapots from the “Sporting Scenes of the 18th Century” series, depicting “Hunting, ” “Shooting, ” and “Fishing” scenes, marked with Reg. Design No 2005894. All teapots are crafted from glazed white earthenware, decorated with polychrome transfer prints depicting relevant scenes and quotes, and accented with extensive gold gilt on the handles, spouts, rims, and finials. The lids feature fluted patterns in distinct colors: red, green, dark blue, teal, and pink, each topped with a gilt finial. The bases of all pieces bear the clear backstamp “SADLER STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND” along with the specific series title and model/registration numbers.
