A studio pottery stoneware vase by Syl Macro of Blackfriars Pottery, Newcastle upon Tyne. The vessel is of tapered, asymmetrical form featuring an irregular, undulating rim. The exterior is decorated with an abstract landscape-inspired scheme in tones of blue, grey, and black over a buff-coloured body. Decorative techniques include cross-hatched impressions and applied dark clay relief elements. The interior shows visible construction marks from the hand-building process. The underside is lined with green felt and bears an original gold-toned paper label for Syl Macro Ceramics, Blackfriars Pottery.
