A Victorian-era industrial foot-operated air bellows, attributed to Fletcher Russell and Co. of Warrington and London. This specialised piece of dental equipment features a dark-stained wooden top panel and thick leather bellows, meticulously secured with brass-headed tacks. The unit is supported by a sturdy four-legged cast metal base featuring an integrated articulating foot pedal. The side is fitted with a tapered metal outlet nozzle. Of particular note is the circular air intake on the underside, protected by an original hand-knotted corded net. The wooden base is stamped with the numerals 7 66. This item represents a fine example of 19th-century medical and industrial design, suitable for a collection of scientific instruments or as a unique piece of industrial decor.
