The crate features nailed construction and is finished with a dark reddish-brown stain. The short ends include semi-circular cutouts designed for handling. The crate is notable for its original paper label affixed to one end, identifying the manufacturer/sender as WRIGHT & WEAIRE, Ltd., ELECTRONIC ENGINEERS, SIMONSIDE WORKS, SOUTH SHIELDS.
