An English silver plated revolving butter dish featuring an engraved dome and glass liner. The piece consists of a silver plated metal frame and a removable clear glass insert. The hemispherical dome is decorated with intricate chased floral and foliate scrollwork and is designed to rotate open via two side pivots. The circular base is accented with a decorative gadrooned border and stands on three stylized feet, identified in comparable market examples as raised embossed crown feet. The glass liner features a pressed radial starburst pattern on its underside. This form is characteristic of late 19th and early 20th-century English silverplate serving ware.
