A British Pattern 1888 MkII Lee Metford knife bayonet featuring a double-edged steel blade and wooden grip scales secured by two brass rivets. The construction includes a steel pommel and crossguard with a muzzle ring, incorporating a functional press stud and an oil hole. The ricasso is stamped with a crown over V.R. for Victoria Regina and the date 10 /99, indicating production in October 1899. The reverse side of the ricasso displays several markings including EFD for the Enfield Royal Small Arms Factory, a broad arrow government property mark, a bend test X, and various crown-topped inspection stamps. The bayonet is housed in a blackened steel-mounted scabbard, which is stamped 368 at the throat. It is accompanied by an original brown leather frog with a metal buckle and stitched construction.
