This lot comprises a vintage signalling searchlight or heliograph housed in a custom-fitted wooden transport case. The internal instrument is finished in olive green paint and features a large glass lens, a central bulb assembly with internal wiring, and a three-point levelling base with adjustable knobs. The device is secured within the case by wooden blocks and green felt padding. The exterior of the wooden case is painted grey and features metal hardware, including two side latches and a central hasp. A worn paper label is affixed to the lid, marked Fragile With Care and Survey and General Instrument Co. Ltd.
