A Victorian paper banknote for Five Pounds issued by the Newcastle upon Tyne Joint Stock Banking Company, dated 1 July 1844. The note features a central engraved vignette depicting a sailing ship in a harbour with a lighthouse and cityscape in the background, set within elaborate calligraphic script. The document is numbered 8855 and includes handwritten signatures and notations. It is overstamped twice with the word CANCELLED in black ink. The printed text includes a promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of five pounds at the London and Westminster Bank, London.
