A vintage scientific analytical balance supplied by Griffin & George Limited. The balance mechanism is housed within its original glazed wooden display case, featuring a lift-up front panel. The mechanism itself is constructed of grey-finished metal, supporting two black circular pans suspended over a heavy, black enameled base. The base is molded with the full company name, GRIFFIN & GEORGE LIMITED, listing branches in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, and marked MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN. An additional plaque affixed to the case top confirms the supplier. The pointer scale is marked GRIFFIN. A small, applied brass plaque is visible on the lower wooden frame bearing the personal inscription, MERRY XMAS DAD.
