Buyer's Premium:

A collection of pieces of British military insignia attributed to the Gloucestershire Regiment, dating from the mid-to-late 20th century, likely produced in anodised aluminum (Staybrite) or plated metal. The badges prominently feature the Egyptian Sphinx motif, a distinction earned by the regiment for service in the Egyptian campaigns, often referred to as the ‘Back Badge’. The collection comprises three distinct types of badges: three large silver-toned cap badges featuring the Sphinx resting on a scroll above a laurel wreath; two large bi-metallic Maltese cross-form badges with a gold-toned Sphinx and scroll mounted on a silver-toned cross; and ten smaller roundlet badges featuring the Sphinx within a wreath. The roundlet badges are split between four silver-toned pieces and six gold-toned pieces. The larger badges and crosses bear the translated inscription “EGYPT” on the associated scroll or bar. Attachment mechanisms vary and include retaining pins, slides, and loops.
