A single ceramic vase by Poole Pottery in the ‘Metallic Galaxy’ pattern, designed by Janice Tchalenko. The oviform vase features a bulbous body and a slightly tapered mouth, a form often referred to as a ‘Purse Vase’ within the Poole line. The body is finished with a dark metallic luster glaze that shifts in color from gray-blue to deep black depending on the light source. The surface is decorated with several large, distinct circular applications of a highly vibrant, multi-colored luster glaze, displaying strong iridescence in shades of deep red, orange, purple, and blue. The base is deeply recessed and reveals a lighter ceramic foot ring. The base carries an impressed marking “ENGLAND” centered on the bottom edge of the recess, with additional indistinct impressed text, likely the maker’s mark, visible further within the recess.
