Monday 16th March - Antiques, Jewellery, Militaria, Coins, Vinyl, Toys, Ceramics, Collectables
This lot comprises three distinct pieces of brass militaria and trench art. The primary piece is a cast brass model of a single-engine fighter aircraft, stylistically consistent with a Supermarine Spitfire. The underside of the wings features raised markings 1940 and 2007. It is mounted via a curved rod to an oval brass plinth. The second item is a miniature brass field cannon, featuring a barrel mounted on a two-wheeled carriage. The third item is a piece of Great War trench art: an ashtray fashioned from a 6-pounder shell casing. The side is hand-engraved with a zig-zag border, the date 1919, and a partial Souvenir inscription. The base of the shell bears several official ordnance stamps, including 6 PR III (6-Pounder Mark III), the manufacturer mark R.L. (Royal Laboratory, Woolwich), the date 1916, and D/ 53. No measurements provided.
