A pair of 18th-century style porcelain figurines produced by the Sitzendorf Porcelain Manufactory of Thuringia, Germany. The set comprises a seated lady and a seated gallant. The lady is depicted holding a single blossom, with a wide-brimmed bonnet overflowing with applied porcelain flowers resting on her lap. She is dressed in a yellow bodice with blue bows and a skirt featuring vertical pink and yellow stripes interspersed with hand-painted floral sprigs. The gallant wears a black tricorn hat, a cream-coloured frock coat decorated with polychrome floral motifs, blue breeches, and white stockings, while holding a large woven basket filled with an abundance of applied porcelain roses and blossoms. Both figures are set upon rococo-style scroll bases accented with gilt and encrusted with further applied flowers and foliage. Both pieces bear the underglaze blue factory mark on the underside consisting of a crown above a stylised S intersected by two horizontal lines. The female figure features an incised model number 20. Height: 13cm approx.
