A mid-century modern ceramic jug, attributed to the Scheurich factory of West Germany. The vessel features an ovoid body, a flaring rim, and a single strap handle. The decoration consists of a high-gloss, mottled glaze in shades of tan and ochre with vertical brown streaks. The rim and base are finished in a contrasting dark brown to black textured fat lava or volcanic glaze, characterised by visible bubbling and pitting. The interior is coated in a smooth, dark brown glaze. The unglazed foot rim reveals a buff-coloured ceramic body. The underside of the base is covered in the dark textured glaze with no visible maker’s marks or signatures. Height: approximately 35cm.
