A classic solid English oak stool from the workshop of Robert Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn. This piece features a thick, kidney-shaped seat with a hand-adzed surface, showcasing the characteristic texture and prominent medullary rays of the timber. The stool is supported by three splayed octagonal legs which are through-tenoned into the seat, a hallmark of the traditional joinery techniques employed by the Thompson craftsmen. To the front edge of the seat is the signature trademark of a mouse carved in high relief. This item represents the enduring legacy of the Yorkshire Critters school of craftsmen and the British Arts and Crafts movement. Dimensions: H 36cm x W 31cm x D 26cm.
