A vintage 1.5-litre lidded stoneware pitcher produced by Goebel in collaboration with Merkelbach. This piece features a traditional salt-glazed finish (Salzglasur) with hand-applied cobalt blue and brown decorative elements. The bulbous body is ornamented with contrasting panels of incised geometric diamond patterns and stylised scrolling foliate motifs. The vessel is fitted with a hinged conical pewter lid featuring a traditional thumb lift. The base is marked with a circular stamp for MERKELBACH · GOEBEL W.-GERMANY SALZGLASUR, accompanied by incised Handarbeit (handmade) script, the model number 484179, and the capacity mark 1 1/2 l. Capacity: 1.5 litres.
