John Arthur Dees (British, 1876–1959), Cottages at Ambleside, Lake District. This traditional landscape is executed in transparent watercolour on wove paper, depicting a quiet street scene with stone cottages and a lone figure. The work is titled COTTAGES AT AMBLESIDE, LAKE DISTRICT to the lower left and signed J A DEES to the lower right. It is presented in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner fillet and a cream-coloured mount.
