A fine Art Deco style bronze sculpture after the celebrated Romanian sculptor Demetre Haralamb Chiparus, depicting the Starfish Dancer. The slender female figure is captured in an elegant, elongated pose with her hands joined above her head. She wears a highly detailed, form-fitting costume featuring a dense, all-over pattern of raised beads and stylised scrollwork motifs, leaving only the hands and face exposed. The work is cast in bronze with a rich dark brown patina and is mounted upon a sophisticated, multi-tiered pedestal. The base assembly consists of a square bronze section inscribed D.H. Chiparus, a substantial block of black-veined marble, an ornate bronze band with a repeating scroll design, and a lower flat black marble plinth. The casting displays crisp definition, particularly in the textured costume and the serene facial expression.
