Buyer's Premium:

A group of four Japanese traditional dolls, known as Nihon-ningyo, dating from the mid-to-late Showa period, in the style of makers such as Kyugetsu. Each figure is meticulously crafted with a gofun-finished head and limbs, providing a smooth, matte porcelain-like appearance. The dolls are dressed in elaborate miniature kimonos made from silk brocade (nishiki) and chirimen crepe, featuring traditional motifs such as cherry blossoms and cranes, with some garments enriched by metallic gold-wrapped threads (kinran). The hair is styled in traditional nihon-gami coiffures adorned with various kanzashi ornaments. The collection includes figures holding traditional accessories including the tsuzumi (hand drum) and a folded paper wagasa (parasol). Each doll is permanently mounted to a black lacquered wooden display stand. Heights range from approximately 35 cm to 42 cm.
