A collection of six Japanese ornamental dolls, known as Oyama-ningyo, dating from the mid-to-late 20th Century Showa period. The group comprises four large standing female figures and two smaller figures, including one in a reclining pose. Each figure is constructed with gofun crushed oyster shell paste finished heads and hands over a composition core, featuring finely hand-painted facial details. The dolls are dressed in elaborate kimonos fashioned from silk brocade nishiki and printed textiles, decorated with traditional floral, cloud, and geometric motifs. The hair is styled in classic nihongami fashions and embellished with decorative kanzashi hairpins. Notable accessories include a large black kasa hat, a branch of cherry blossoms, and a miniature red paper umbrella. The figures are mounted on a variety of black lacquered and carved wooden bases. These dolls are typical of the traditional display pieces produced by prominent manufacturers such as Kyugetsu or the Nishi Company. Largest dolls approximately 40cm height; smallest dolls approximately 15cm height.
