This maritime watercolour painting on paper by F. Tordoff depicts several sailing vessels navigating choppy waters off a rocky coastline. The composition features the ruins of Tynemouth Priory situated atop a cliff in the background. In the mid-ground, a prominent two-masted ship is shown under sail, while the foreground contains a small rowing boat occupied by two figures. The work is signed F. Tordoff in the lower right corner. The reverse of the frame bears a handwritten paper label inscribed Watercolour Sailing Ships off Tynemouth F. Tordoff. The piece is presented in a double-matted gilt-finished frame behind glass.
