A comprehensive collection of fourteen hand-painted wildlife figurines produced by The Franklin Mint in 1987, issued in association with the Wildlife Preservation Trust International. This series represents a diverse catalogue of global fauna, with a particular focus on endangered and protected species. The specimens included are an African Elephant (two distinct poses), Siberian Tiger, Timber Wolf, Corsican Red Deer, Gazelle, Great Grey Kangaroo, Gorilla, Grizzly Bear, Indian Rhinoceros, Spanish Lynx, Giant Panda, African Lion, and a Bactrian Camel. Each figurine is rendered in a realistic, naturalistic pose atop an integral landscaped base. The underside of each piece features a protective felt covering with an inset brass identification plate, providing the common name, scientific name (such as Ursus arctos horribilis for the Grizzly Bear), and the 1987 copyright mark. The lot is further enhanced by the inclusion of ten original descriptive booklets containing species-specific information for the majority of the collection.
