A comprehensive collection of vintage matchboxes from the Series of 100 British Steam Locos, produced by the Southern Counties Match Co., Poole, in association with Blandford Books. Manufactured in West Germany and copyrighted in 1982, this set features detailed colour illustrations of historical British locomotives. Each box front depicts a specific engine, such as the 1825 Stockton and Darlington Locomotion or the 1917 Maunsell N Class, including the year of introduction and technical classification. The reverse of each box contains a Match Game brain teaser puzzle. The set is housed in a black cardboard distributor tray. The boxes are constructed from cardboard with inner sliding trays containing unused wooden safety matches with red striker tips. Dimensions: Each box approximately 53mm x 36mm x 15mm. Tray approximately 310mm x 230mm x 50mm.
