Identified as Model 852-SH with serial number CS-688158, the unit is configured for the pre-decimal British currency system (LSD). The housing is constructed from cast metal featuring a decorative faux-wood grain painted finish, mounted upon a substantial wooden base with an integrated cash drawer. The keyboard layout includes clerk identifiers (A, B, D, E, H, K), transaction keys (R. ON ACC’T, CHARGE, PAID OUT), and currency columns for Pounds (£1–£9), Shillings (1/– to 19/–), and Pence (1d to 11d), alongside a vertical slider for fractional pence (1/4d, 1/2d, 3/4d). The register is operated via a side-mounted crank handle with a wooden grip and includes a side-mounted housing for a receipt or detail printer.
