Royal Doulton, glazed earthenware, hand-painted decoration. This collection comprises three character jugs depicting literary and cultural figures. The first is Robin Hood (D6527), modelled by Max Henk, featuring a dark green hat with a white feather and a handle shaped as a longbow. The base is marked with the printed factory mark and inscribed Hand made and hand decorated, Royal Doulton, ROBIN HOOD, D 6527, Modelled by M. Henk, and © ROYAL DOULTON TABLEWARE LIMITED 1959, with artist number 49. The second is a large Don Quixote (D6455) jug, featuring a peaked helmet and a handle formed as a windmill and shield. The base is marked with the printed factory mark, Don Quixote, D 6455, COPR 1956, DOULTON & CO LIMITED, and registration numbers Rd No 881509, Rd No 35705, Rd No 7560, and Rd No 332/56. The third is Pearly Queen (D6759), modelled by Stanley James Taylor, depicting the London figure in a black coat with pearl buttons and a feathered hat.
