An elegant late 18th to early 19th-century George III Style mahogany dressing mirror, also known as a toilet or shaving mirror, designed in the refined Hepplewhite taste. The piece features a shield-shaped mirror plate held within a moulded mahogany frame, suspended between two raked and curved uprights capped with decorative brass terminals and accented with delicate stringing. The bow-fronted base contains three drawers, with a wide central drawer flanked by two smaller square drawers, all showcasing highly figured mahogany veneers. The construction incorporates hand-cut dovetails, with secondary woods likely being oak or pine. The exterior is further embellished with satinwood crossbanding and boxwood and ebony stringing throughout the frame and base. The drawers are fitted with circular brass knobs featuring a radiating sunburst motif, and the mirror pivots on matching adjustable brass screws. The entire unit is raised on traditional ogee bracket feet. Dimensions: [Dimensions not provided
