A mid-to-late 19th-century Victorian walnut work table of octagonal trumpet form. The hinged top is decorated with a centred inlaid chessboard, scrolling foliate marquetry, and a geometric Tunbridge ware style banded border. The interior reveals a fitted arrangement of perimeter compartments and a deep central well, lined with a combination of decorative patterned paper and red silk. The structure is supported by a faceted octagonal column transitioning into a turned pedestal, mounted on a tripod base of three carved cabriole legs with foliate knees and scrolled feet. A functional lock and key are included. Dimensions: Height 73 cm, Width 45 cm (approximate).
