A complete and original cased Civil Defence Long Service Medal (Elizabeth II), awarded for fifteen years of continuous service within the various Civil Defence organisations of Great Britain. Established in 1961, this medal recognised service in the Civil Defence Corps (CD), the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS), and the National Hospital Service Reserve (NHSR). The obverse features the crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Thomas, with the inscription ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FID. DEF. The reverse displays three shields representing the constituent services, set against a background of oak leaves and acorns. This example is unnamed, which is the standard practice for this award. The medal is suspended from its original blue ribbon with three narrow central stripes of yellow, red, and green, and is currently mounted on a silvered brooch bar for wear. The lot is accompanied by its original Royal Mint presentation case in black leatherette with a blue velvet-lined base, the original Home Office award slip from the Home Secretary, and a spare length of original ribbon in a glassine packet.
